Who can post available dogs on Wagaroo?

  • Individual owners who need to re-home their dog.

Can you tell me more about Wagaroo's Family2Family Program (Owner Rehoming)?

  • It is very difficult to find yourself in need of rehoming a pet. We are here to help. Wagaroo offers a free, easy to use online listing for dogs. We want you to meet a wonderful adoptive individual or family for your dog and have an excellent customer experience while doing so!
  • In addition to the services we provide for all dogs listed on Wagaroo, we support local pet shelters and rescues with every adoption of a dog from our Family2Family Owner Rehoming Program. National animal organizations like ASPCA and Best Friends Animal Society recommend that owners charge an adoption fee for their dog to "discourage anyone with malicious intentions" (You can read the Best Friends rehoming guidelines here). Unfortunately, backyard breeders and puppy mills know about this advice and use it to trick puppy buyers. These businesses create online and/or newspaper ads and pretend to be a rehoming owner. Then they charge high "adoption" fees, but they are really just selling puppies. Sometimes, people that steal puppies resell them this way as well. At Wagaroo, we don't want to work with breeders that lie in order to sell their puppies. We also don't want to be a forum for people to sell stolen dogs. Owners in the Wagaroo rehoming program agree not to accept any money for their dog. Instead, owners agree to ask the new adopter for a fee that can be paid through this Wagaroo Paypal link. This fee is used to support our operating costs and to help local animal shelters, rescue groups, and owners that list on wagaroo.com. This process allows Wagaroo to help dogs in need, to maintain our high standards for listers and to continue to offer our owner services at no cost to you. If you have any questions, email spot@wagaroo.com

What dogs are currently available on Wagaroo?

  • Wagaroo's Family2Family program is open to owners within the United States. If you are interested in bringing Wagaroo to your city, email us at spot@wagaroo.com. We're excited to expand to other like-minded communities that want to find homes for dogs!

Where does the information on a dog's Wagaroo page come from?

  • Wagaroo allows owners to post photos, video, and descriptive information about the animals in their care. Wagaroo does not and cannot guarantee the accuracy and validity of animal information entered by its users. All information about the dogs featured on Wagaroo is provided by the individual hat is listing the dog for adoption. Any additional questions about the dog should be directed to that individual. Contact information can be found on the dog's Wagaroo page.

How can I learn more about a dog, particularly when some information is listed as "unknown"?

  • On occasion, information may not be available about certain aspects of a dog.  For instance, if a dog has never interacted with cats before, they may be listed as "unknown" with respect to whether or not they are cat friendly. Other times, we can find out more information for you!  So, please feel free to email us at spot@wagaroo.com with any questions you may have.

Why can't I receive an adoption fee for my dog? I've read that I shouldn't give my dog away for free.

  • National animal organizations like ASPCA and Best Friends Animal Society recommend that owners charge an adoption fee for their dog to "discourage anyone with malicious intentions" (You can read the Best Friends rehoming guidelines here). Unfortunately, backyard breeders and puppy mills know about this advice and use it to trick puppy buyers. These businesses create online and/or newspaper ads and pretend to be a rehoming owner. We also don't want to be a forum for people to sell stolen dogs. Owners in the Wagaroo rehoming program agree not to accept any money for their dog. Instead, owners agree to ask the new adopter for a fee that can be paid through Wagaroo. This fee is used to support our operating costs and to help local animal shelters, rescue groups, and owners that list on wagaroo.com. This process helps Wagaroo identify fake adopters who are trying to get a free dog to use for cruel purposes and to maintain the integrity of our owner listings. If you have any questions, email spot@wagaroo.com

I wanted to use an adoption fee to help cover medical bills for my dog. Can I still list with Wagaroo?

  • Wagaroo is commited to helping owners. Please inquire about our veterinary and behavior assistance programs at spot@wagaroo.com. We are a small business and don't always have funds available, but we promise to do the best we can to help.

Will my street address or email be publicly displayed on Wagaroo?

  • Nope!  Wagaroo only requests this informaiton to help maintain the high quality of our postings and so that we can keep in close contact with owners in our Family2Family program.  If you would like to ensure that only your first name and last name initial appears with your dog's profile, we are happy to help with that too.  Just email us at spot@wagaroo.com.
